"Bibles"

Just how many kinds of "bibles" are there? No, I'm not talking about the different versions and translations of the Holy Book.

I was browsing books at the MPH bookstore located at Midvalley Megamall yesterday and a book titled "The Crystal Bible" caught my eye. Hmm... don't you think that for a book to be called a "bible", it has to be the ultimate book, the final authoritative word on that subject? So, if I wanted to know everything about crystals, is this the only book I will ever need?

Well, curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see how many of these "bibles" there were. A casual stroll along the aisles between the rows and rows of books revealed that there were many more "bibles" on the shelves. These are some of them.

The Spells Bible? Wow, MPH caters to a very wide demographics! That certainly takes care of the witches, warlocks, sorcerers and magicians!

The most number of "bibles" found within a single category was in the Computer/IT section of the bookstore.

At the end of the day, there's only one bible that matters the most and that is the Christian Holy Bible. It is the one, true, final, authoritative word of God for the salvation of man.

No other "bible" even comes close to the Holy Bible because it's rich content is God-inspired (2 Tim. 3:16).

It is not just a history book.

It is not just a story book.

It is not just a book of poetry.

It is a book about Jesus the Messiah of the Old Testament and Jesus the Saviour in the New Testament. It contains the teachings of Jesus for us so that by faith, we can look forward with confidence to the future.

Amen.
